Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking which was created in the 1970’s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. The television show Soul Train and the 1980s films Breakin’, Beat Street, and Wild Style showcased these crews and dance styles in their early stages; therefore, giving hip-hop mainstream exposure. In all of these subgenres it appears to the spectator that the body is popping. The difference between each subgenre is how exaggerated the popping is. In liquid, the body movements look like water. The popping is so smooth that the movements do not look like popping at all; they look fluid.

Salsa evolved from forms such as Son, Son Montuno, cha cha cha, Mambo and Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena which were popular in the Caribbean, Latin America and the Latino communities in New York since the 1940’s. Salsa, like most music genres and dance styles, has gone through a lot of variation through the years and incorporated elements of other Afro-Caribbean dances such as Pachanga. Different regions of Latin America and the United States have distinct salsa styles of their own, such as Cuban, Puerto Rican, Cali Colombia. There is some controversy surrounding the origins of the word “salsa,” which has been ascribed to the dance since the mid-1800’s. Some claim that it was based on a cry shouted by musicians while they were playing their music.

The robot was created in 1967; despite the dance’s appearance in the 1960’s, the robot goes back to the 20’s, when it was used theatrically in miming. It is a dance in which the dancer moves their limbs in a way that imitates the movements of a robot. Movements of the robot are normally started and finished with a dime-stop (a very abrupt stop), to give the impression of motors starting and stopping, but poppers have also been known to do the robot with a pop to the beat. As long as the illusion of being a robot is maintained, it is considered the robot.

Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dancers focus on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. This dance genre is often done in bare feet. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music.Pioneers of contemporary dance include Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham, and Merce Cunningham because they broke the rules of the strict forms of ballet. These dancer/choreographers all believed that dancers should have freedom of movement, allowing their bodies to freely express their innermost feelings.

Swag dancing is a new subject. So, same thing. It’s like getting in the groove with your step. Say for instance, you’re doing a choreo, or you’re at a club, you’re just chilling with your boys, or what not, think about it this way. Also if a dancer is portraying a certain type of character (in a play or a story ballet), that character might have a confident or arrogant attitude, so the image of “swag” might be powerful for that dancer.

Bollywood dance is the dance-form used in the Indian films.  It is a mixture of numerous styles.  These styles include belly-dancing, kathak, Indian folk, Western popular, and “modern”, jazz, and even Western erotic dancing.  In this web page, we will look at Bollywood dance and place it within the commercial and artistic framework of the South Asian film world.Bollywood dance is a difficult topic to discuss because it is hard to pin down.  Its exact definition, geographical distribution, and stylistic characteristics are amorphous.

Lyrical dance is a dance style that blends elements of ballet and jazz dance. Lyrical dance is generally a little more fluid than ballet and also somewhat faster — although not as rapidly executed as jazz dance. Lyrical dance is also somewhat smoother and a bit faster than ballet, but not quite as fast as jazz.Lyrical dance is similarly oriented toward the dancer’s emotional responses rather than to an underlying formal choreographic structure. While a choreographic structure often exists, it serves more as a general guide than as a prescription for specific dance moves that, once mastered, will be highly similar from one performance to the next.

Couple Dance

The tango was born in Argentina in the 19th century and is famous for how sensual it is. There’s a lot of improvisation and the man usually guides the woman as she positions her legs in time with the music. This is a difficult style to follow since the rules aren’t set in stone and you need to feel the music and also communicate with your partner. This is why tango is the perfect style of dance for lovers.Tango was the first couple dance ever seen in Europe that involved improvisation. Before the arrival of Tango, couple dance was sequence based, with every couple on the floor dancing the same steps at the same time. (The only notable exception to this was the Boston, a rhythmically difficult form of Waltz fashionable in London in 1911, although it was never widely danced. Some Ballroom dancers today dance a very simplified version of the Boston.)
